Our New Home at Locke Mill
In November 2006, the League purchased commercial
space in Locke Mill Plaza in historic downtown Concord, which will serve as our
new home. The Clothing Room and our offices are currently located at The Glenn
Center, and we hold our monthly meetings at Central United Methodist Church. The
Clothing Room has been vandalized and broken into three times in the last two
years. Local law enforcement officials have told us that it is not safe for our
volunteers to work at The Glenn Center at night. Unfortunately, this is when
many of our volunteers have hours that they are able to give to our projects.
Locke Mill will allow us a safe place for our volunteers to come together for
meetings, events and to organize and execute fundraising activities. No more
storage in members’ basements, no more meetings in varied locations throughout
town! No more break-ins and vandalism to the Clothing
Room.

Our campaign to raise funds for Locke Mill is off to a wonderful start, but we still have a long way to go to meet our goal of raising $160,000! Funds raised in our campaign will pay for the purchase of the space and any necessary renovations.
